Addison Tyres' Formula 1 day raises £2000

Date added: 29 May 2009

Well done to Tipton-based family company Addison Tyres Ltd, for raising £2000 for the Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund at Russells Hall Hospital.

On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2009, the Addison team gave shoppers at Merry Hill the chance to have their photo taken with a Formula 1 show car, try out a racing simulator and win Bridgestone merchandise and a tour of the F1 factory. Free tyre checks and tyre safety advice were also on offer.

Jason Addison, director of Addison Tyres, explained it was because of his own family that he organised the event. “My son Scott was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was just five years old and underwent intensive treatment until he was ten," he said. "He’s now thankfully in remission and doing really well. We’ve raised money for leukaemia charities in the past and will continue to do so in the future.”

The proceeds will now go to the Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Great news from the Addison team! Is your company doing something for charity? We'd love to hear from you - email stephen_massey@sandwell.gov.uk and tell us about your fundraising plans.
