A preview of the Growing Green marketplace

04/03/2010

Are you signed up for Growing Green on Thursday 18 March yet? In the 'marketplace' area of our huge networking and insight day, designed to nurture the Midlands' green supply chain, you can meet big-name contractors, world-class suppliers ... and even a local celebrity or two.

More than 60 firms have snapped up the exhibition spaces at our event, which takes place at the Bethel Convention Centre from 8:30am to 3pm. These are mainly West Midlands based  businesses who have already begun breaking into new green markets, and they will be there to showcase environmental products, components and solutions made in and around the Black Country.

Exhibitors will include: 1 Red Cube * A1 Paper * AA Rewinds * Angle Ring Co * Ash and Lacy * DPD * Blackwell Group * Caparo Steel Products * Capital Coated Steel * CBS * Commercial Catalyst * DPD (Geopost Group) * East End Foods * Eco2Solar * Encraft * EnerG * Fairsnape * Forkers * Hadley Group * Keltruck * Lammart * Linton Metalware * Manufacturing Talk * Metsec (UK) * Mitsubishi Electric * Morrice Contractors * New Dimension * Nuclear Engineering Services * Parry People Movers * Signature Aromas * Siltech * Solar Orbit * Strateco * Strong Recycling Balers * Thomas Dudley * Vacuum & Atmosphere Services * Volarus * Wardell Armstrong * Weatherite Holdings Ltd * WH Foster * Wolseley * WRTL.

The day is also about sharing knowledge: about innovation, about business opportunities, about working together to reduce carbon footprints, reduce expenditure and increase profits.

Many high-profile organisations and agencies (who hold the purse strings) will be on hand to give you guidance on the day, including: Advantage West Midlands * Birmingham City Council * the Black Country Chamber of Commerce * Business Link * the Carbon Trust * Climate-Change Solutions * the Manufacturing Advisory Service * RESCO * Sandwell College * Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council * UKTI (UK Trade & Investment) * the University of Wolverhampton's Knowledge Transfer Partnership.

And the industry leaders who are taking an exhibition stand or leading a seminar include: Balfour Beatty * Black Country Housing Association * Carillion * Corus * Crown Paints * E.ON * Interserve * Rolls Royce * the Royal Institute of British Architects * Thomas Vale * Vinci * Warwick Manufacturing Group * Westinghouse.

Celebrity historian and industrialist Professor Carl Chinn MBE will deliver a rousing speech in the morning, while Sky News presenter Marverine Cole is our host.

Steve Massey of finditinsandwell said: “Architects, construction and manufacturing professionals, buyers and decision makers and people from SMEs are strongly encouraged to come along and learn about new markets.

"They will be able to meet and network with scores of potential manufacturers and suppliers who are capable of diversifying and rising to the challenge of producing the environmental technology, the sustainable materials and components that the industry leaders and building designers require while helping to stimulate the region's economy."
