Trading Standards
Established in 1986, Trading Standards now forms a combined service with Environmental Health within the Corporate thematic area of Social Inclusion and Health.
The Trading Standards service is a 'High Profile Front Line Public Service' designed to serve the needs of the local community and aims to promote and maintain a fair, equitable and safe trading environment.
By the implementation of a programme of planned actions which are linked to the Sandwell Council's priorities our service objectives are:-
*To ensure that consumers and businesses within Sandwell are protected against fraud, unfair trading practices and unsafe goods or services;
*To provide advice, assistance and support to the business community of Sandwell including competitive, expert verification and calibration services to trade and industry;
*To empower and enable consumers within the Borough to exercise their legal civil rights to resolve disputes concerning the sale or supply of goods/services; and
*To listen to the needs of the community and respond to their demands for alternative and/or improved services.
