Did you know that Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council employs business engagement officers? They’re dedicated to giving your business a friendly, informative and useful introduction to all the services offered by the Council.

Your business engagement officers are here to:

* act as the main contact between your business and Sandwell Council
* help you access all the business support available from Sandwell Council and its partners
* speak out on your behalf, within the Council, the Black Country and in the West Midlands
* give you a free property-finding service, so your business gets off to the best possible start.
 

Meet the business engagement officers

Paul Mountford came to his role at Sandwell Council after working in a variety of sales and marketing positions in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. Before that, Paul’s promising career as a footballer with Walsall FC was cut unfortunately short by a serious knee injury.

The thing that Paul most enjoys about his job, he says, is “the variety, and the fact that no two days are ever the same. One day you could be meeting with the managing director of a multinational company to discuss their future growth plans ... and the next day you could be providing support to an entrepreneur who is keen to start their own businesses within Sandwell.”

As well as being a proud new dad, Paul is a keen sportsman – and a member of Tipton Harriers Athletics Club and Black Country Triathletes.

First-class Business & Economics graduate Peter Martin joined Sandwell Council in 2008, having worked in organisations that included Interserve, the NHS and Virgin Media.

Peter finds it very enjoyable supporting new businesses and “watching them grow”, and seeing people’s “surprised reactions to the range of services Sandwell Council and its partners can provide”.
Like his colleague, Peter is keen on fitness and sport (enjoying all, but favouring football!). He counts socialising, computing, movies and the theatre among his interests.
