Business Watch

All too often the security of a business is reactive rather than proactive: people only address the problem after the crime has happened.

One of the most effective ways of fighting crime and reducing its financial impact on your business is by working with other companies in your area.

A 'Business Watch' scheme is a partnership between the business community, local authorities, the police and other organisations that represent business interests in an area. It's like the more well-known Neighbourhood Watch scheme, but for businesses.

Business Watch enables individual businesses to take an active part in tackling crime on their premises, by sharing information relating to crime prevention and intelligence on current crime.

Business Watch in Sandwell provides an easy way for you and your staff to report suspicious activity, and gives you and other companies shared (and therefore cost-effective) solutions for tackling crime.

It is important for businesses in the borough to know they are not alone, and that there is a great deal of support available - from advice on funding and security, through to a friendly ear to listen to their concerns.

If you are interested in getting involved with Business Watch, please contact the Business Engagement Team at Sandwell Council on 0121 569 2101 or email paul_mountford@sandwell.gov.ukor peter_martin@sandwell.gov.uk.

West Midlands Police emphasise that if a crime is reported then it will be acted upon, so please do give Sandwell Operational Command Unit details of anything you find suspcious. You can report to your local police station by phoning 0845 113 5000.
