Disaster Recovery
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council through its Resilience Unit has a duty to promote Business Continuity and to encourage as many businesses and voluntary sector organisations in its area to have a business continuity plan.
Business Continuity is about understanding risks to the everyday running of a business or organisation and planning other ways of working if the risk actually happens. For example if an organisation’s building is closed down through flooding or fire, would there be anywhere else for staff to work?
Many businesses and voluntary organisations are currently unprepared to deal with the results of emergencies or disruptions.
We believe that we are more likely to be successful in promoting business continuity if we can provide a free process that people can follow. We think that any interest generated is likely to be lost if the next step of the process is advice to contact a consultant.
We do not have the resources to respond to individual requests for assistance, it is therefore important that we make our information accessible to as many people as possible and to those ends we have produced an easy to follow guide and plan template
